KURO Table - Custom Shou Sugi Ban Burnt Wood Dining Table

Kuro is an Asian-inspired table in organically shaped burnt solid oak.

Made in our workshop by hand, it highlights the wood burning technique called Shou Sugi Ban or Yakisugi.

This traditional Japanese method used for several centuries mainly on cedar wood consists of burning the surface of the wood, making it more resistant to bad weather, fire and insects.

It is now used more and more often on interior furniture, giving a dark facing of the most beautiful effect, very popular in modern minimalist interiors.

Here we selected an oak board for this creation and decided not to touch any of the imperfections of the board, keeping the natural cracks in the wood visible, as well as its textured surface.
These irregularities or imperfections should not be considered a defect but part of the unique essence of the piece.
