KURO Coffee Table - Custom-Made Shou Sugi Ban Burnt Wood Coffee Table

Kuro is an Asian-inspired coffee table in organically shaped burnt oak.

Made by hand in our workshop, it highlights the wood burning technique called Shou Sugi Ban or Yakisugi.

This traditional Japanese method, used for several centuries mainly on cedar wood, consists of burning the surface of the wood, making it more resistant to bad weather, fires and insects.

Today it is used more and more often on interior furniture, giving a dark finish with a beautiful effect, very popular in modern minimalist interiors.

Here we selected an oak top for this creation and decided to leave the board's imperfections untouched, leaving the wood's natural cracks and textured surface visible. These irregularities or imperfections should not be considered a defect but rather part of the piece's unique essence.
